Also, keep checking out our blog for updates throughout the weekend. We will do our best to provide the live scoring here if the server traffic slows down the curlingzone and wct site. Please keep in mind that we have a team of dedicated volunteers who are updating the scores for us, so we appreciate your patience if sometimes it takes a little longer to get the scores. Selection of Teams for 2008 Wayden Classic

The 2008 Wayden Classic Grand Slam selection of teams will be formally announced on Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Watch this space!

2008 Wayden Grand Slam Entry Information

Hello everyone!

The Wayden Transportation Ladies Classic Grand Slam will take place from November 14 to 17, 2008 at the Abbotsford Curling Club. The event will once again be a 32 team triple knock out, with $60,000 up for grabs. The entry fee for our event is $1100.00.

Twenty four spots will be reserved for CTRS/Order of Merit teams to be determined by the Canadian Curling Association/World Curling Tour after June 15, 2008. The remaining 8 teams will be determined by first come first serve.

To eliminate some of the confusion we experienced last year with the delay in getting the information about entry to some teams about our event, we have developed a new format for entry that we hope will ensure all teams have the information and an equal chance at attending our spiel. Please note the following entry format:

1. We will begin accepting entries for the 2008 Classic on Tuesday April 8 at 12 noon Pacific Time. The 24 reserved spots will be determined after June 15, 2008.

2. We will only accept entries via fax at 604-854-5280. This eliminates having to check three different email addresses and provides a time and date stamp to make the system more efficient.

3. Entries must be accompanied by a credit card number to secure your spot on our list. You may send a post dated cheque to cover the deposit at a later date, however we do require the credit card number until we receive your cheque in order to hold your spot. Once the cheque is received we will destroy the card number provided to us by you.

4. Entries must include a listing of all players on your team. This information is submitted to CCA/WCT for review to determine points and who gets the 24 reserved spots.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the entry process and I will do my best to answer them. We look forward to hearing from you in April!

World Curling Tour Comes to Abbotsford BC

What would it take to bring 32 of the biggest names in ladies curling to Abbotsford this November? How about $60,000 and a shot at the 2010 Olympics! On November 16-19, 2007 the Wayden Transportation Ladies Classic Grand Slam comes to town and the current world champion is only one of the superstars lining up to compete.

In addition to cash prizes, teams are also chasing valuable Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) points. CTRS leaders will compete at the 2009 Canadian Curling Trials for the honour of representing Canada in our own back yard in 2010.

This year’s draw reads like a who’s who of Canadian curling – Kelly Scott (Current World Champion), Shannon Kleibrink (Bronze Medal – 2006 Olympics), Jennifer Jones (2005 Canadian Champion) and Colleen Jones (2-time World Champion & 6-time Canadian Champion) are all coming to town. Throw in Sherry Anderson, Stefanie Lawton (defending Classic champion), and Sherry Middaugh and you’ve got a great weekend of curling.

Come and cheer on Canada’s biggest rock stars at the Abbotsford Curling Club November 16-19. The action starts on Friday November 16th at 8am and the finals get underway at 3pm on

Monday November 19th.
